Mets' Sean Manaea: Struggles in London
1h ago
Manaea (3-3) took the loss Saturday against the Phillies in London, allowing six runs on seven hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out three.
Manaea got off to a good start Saturday, holding the Phillies to just one hit through his first three scoreless innings. However, Bryce Harper launched a home run with one out in the fourth before Philadelphia rallied for five runs with two outs in the frame, forcing Manaea from the game. The left-hander's now allowed 11 earned runs over 9.1 innings in his last two starts after pitching to a 2.70 ERA over his previous seven outings. Overall, Manaea sports a 4.30 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP and 60:25 K:BB across 60.2 innings this year. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, currently scheduled for next week at home versus the Padres.

Diamondbacks' Humberto Castellanos: Optioned to Triple-A
1h ago
The Diamondbacks optioned Castellanos to Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
Castellanos was selected to the active roster Thursday, and he will now head back to the minors after giving up five earned runs in 2.1 innings during Friday's loss. He'll remain on the 40-man roster as he heads back to Triple-A, but the D-backs will likely be hesitant to call him back up to the majors based on his poor performance. Scott McGough will come up from Reno to fill the open bullpen spot.

Cardinals' Steven Matz: Making next start in Double-A
2h ago
Matz (back) will start on Tuesday for Double-A Springfield, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Matz was able to get through two shutout innings on 24 pitches during his first rehab start at Triple-A on Thursday. Manager Oli Marmol said Saturday that the 33-year-old southpaw will build up to 40 pitches in his upcoming start, and the team will aim to get him up to about 75-80 pitches before returning him to its big-league rotation, making it likely he'll require at least one more rehab start after Tuesday.

Ranger Suarez PHI SP
Phillies' Ranger Suarez: First to 10 wins
2h ago
Suarez (10-1) earned the win Saturday over the Mets in London, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.
It wasn't Suarez's most dominant outing (the eight hits allowed were a season high), though he managed to limit the damage en route to his league-leading 10th win. It's encouraging to see Suarez make a successful return to the mound after he was struck in the pitching hand by a line drive in his last start, forcing him out of the game after two innings. Overall, the 28-year-old southpaw sports a pristine 1.81 ERA with a 0.85 WHIP and 85:17 K:BB across 79.2 innings this year. Suarez is currently lined up to face the Orioles on the road in his next outing.

Roddery Munoz MIA SP
Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Officially promoted
2h ago
The Marlins recalled Munoz from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday to start against the Guardians.
The 24-year-old righty will come up from the minors to fill the open rotation spot created by Sixto Sanchez's (shoulder) move to the injured list. Munoz has started three games for the Marlins already this year, posting a 5.17 ERA and 1.21 WHIP alongside a 19:7 K:BB through 15.2 innings. Until he is able to turn in consistent success in the majors, he is not a recommended fantasy option.

Ryan Weathers MIA SP
Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Placed on IL
2h ago
The Marlins placed Weathers on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left index finger strain.
Weathers' finger caused him to be pulled from his start Friday midway through the third inning. He'll now miss several starts as he heads to the IL, though the team has not yet offered any sort of return timeline for the 24-year-old lefty. Roddery Munoz was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move and will start Saturday versus Cleveland, though it's not immediately apparent who will fill the new opening in the Marlins' rotation.
