Pasta is a staple at my house.
I used to think that pasta marinara was the easiest mealto make, but I have a new obsession in my life.
And it is this One PotCreamy Hummus Pasta.
It is flavorful, simple and delicious. Also it is ready in 20 minutes…win!
I love a creamy pasta, but don’t love the heavy feeling I have after eating it.
Even with cashew cream, you can still feel weighed down.
Using hummus keeps this light while still giving you plenty of smooth texture.

This pasta gets another layer of flavor and texture with the addition of fresh garlic, sun dried tomatoes and wilted spinach.
It is just a bowl of yum.
Period.

could i use frozen spinach?

Rene — Reply
Hi John – you definitely can! I would thaw 4 oz of frozen spinach, squeeze out the water, then add it to the sauce!

If you use frozen be sure to dry it as much as possible after thawing.

Made this for dinner tonight it was quite tasty, I used red pepper hummus and a little extra red pepper flakes. I would recommend using a flavoured hummus.

Followed some suggestions and added the Cajun spice and nutritional yeast. I also sautéd with green olives. I forgot to save the pasta water so added vegetable broth. This was very yummy!

I just made it with about 1/2 vegan kale pesto from Trader Joe’s. I added peas & asparagus. I just decided I’ll be making this on Christmas! My daughter just said, “this is like something you’d order in a restaurant”! THANK YOU! No more searching for creamy pasta sauce recipes. Jackpot!

So glad it was a hit Casey! And I love that Trader Joe’s pesto too!

Not the worst, but too bland. I didn’t want to finish my plate, and I’ve been cooking for a while and consider myself okay at it. Won’t make it again….but at least I tried.

Not if it’s made with eggs, which is how regular pasta is made. A vegan option could be to use zoodles instead ?

“most” pasta is NOT made with eggs!!! Only egg noodles are made with eggs.

This is my go to favorite vegan recipe; it’s easy to adapt for variety (my husband enjoys roasted red bell peppers and mushrooms added in). Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Good base recipe. I made it not so vegan by sauteing shrimp prior to adding the garlic/tomatoes. I also added broccoli and cauliflower that I sauteed the night before, then added Bahia Jerk Seasoning at the end, very good and a nice comfort meal.

Got to admit – I was a little skeptical about this one. I love hummus but thought using in a pasta sauce was a little weird. Regardless, I had some hummus leftover from a party Friday so I decided to try this. I absolutely loved it! I added black olives and topped my portion with some vegan parm. Definitely gonna make this again next time I have leftover hummus!

Made this last night. Didn’t have sun dried tomatoes on hand so instead I poured in a tiny bit of marinara to make it a rose sauce and some nutritional yeast. And OMG was it ever delicious! Even my 11yr old picky eater loved it so much she asked to bring it to school for lunch. Thank you Savory Vegan!

Really loved the recipe. Made it twice already. Always looking for new vegan recipes! This is one of my favorites. I made some modifications to the recipe by adding mixed herbs, chilli flakes and green+red peppers cause I love peppers and it also adds a crunchiness to the pasta. .

Thanks for this great idea! I needed a non tomatoey sauce and looked to Chef Google for help. I only had garlic and hummus, so sautéed the garlic, added the pasta, stirred in hummus and some pasta water, s&p. It went down a storm. Will definitely do this again.

LOVE this recipe! I was trying to use up some veggies I had on hand, so I subbed roasted red peppers for the tomatoes and baby bok choy for the spinach and it was delicious. The bok choy added a zesty flavor that everyone loved.

What kind of hummus do you use? Just plain? Or do you have a particular one?
-
Rene — Reply
I used plain hummus – recently I’ve been loving the one from Trader Joe’s. But you could totally switch it up and try a flavored hummus!
